The interface from COT

With COT's IAS (Interface Adapter System) solution, you have the ability to provide printers from the COT portfolio with a unified interface, which can be integrated into the company infrastructure via Serial, Ethernet, or WLAN depending on the series. Printers from the COT portfolio that are not supported by SAP can also be connected to SAP via the IAS. Standard protocols on the serial and network interface are supported.

COT ConfigSaver & Device Management (CDM) - fast printer replacement and monitoring for minimal downtime costs

COT offers Device Management as an additional monitoring software that enables central status monitoring of printers with IAS interface. In extensive installations in critical environments, it is common practice to have replacement devices available in a pool for exchange to quickly resolve printer failures. However, these often need to be configured to the site-specific configuration before they can be deployed (e.g., IP address).

For these cases, COT offers the external ConfigSaver, which stores the entire IAS configuration. When replacing devices or in case of printer failure, it is then only necessary to transfer the ConfigSaver from the defective device to the replacement or reserve device, without requiring additional IT resources. This saves time and money by reducing downtime to a minimum. The ConfigSaver can also be pre-programmed offline, so that the printer is directly configured and ready for use when deployment begins.

Additional functionalities that have proven useful in the past include static and dynamic character replacement, the ability to record print data directly in the interface (error analysis of forms), and loading configurations or data into the printer at printer startup. In production environments, it can also be useful if the control panel function is disabled during normal operation (in case of error, operation is automatically possible again), or to ensure via a protocol that the form to be printed is only confirmed by the printer when it has actually been printed.
