With the IAS (Interface Adapter System) solution from COT, you have the option of providing printers from the COT portfolio with a standardized interface, which can be integrated into the company infrastructure via serial, Ethernet or WLAN, depending on the series. Standard protocols on the serial and network interface are supported.

The configuration of the IAS and the printer is stored in an external configuration storage device (ConfigSaver). In the event of a printer failure on the production line, this allows a backup printer to be put into operation in a short time and without administrative effort, using the same settings (IP address, certificates, optionally even the same MAC address, etc.). During device replacement, the ConfigSaver simply needs to be transferred from the defective device to the replacement unit. This saves time and avoids the need for additional IT resources. The ConfigSaver can also be preconfigured offline, so that the printer is ready for use and fully configured right from the start.
Additional functionalities that have proven useful in the past include static and dynamic character replacement, the ability to record print data directly at the interface (for form error analysis), and the ability to load configurations or data into the printer at startup. In production environments, it can also be beneficial to disable the control panel function during normal operation (while reactivating it automatically in the event of an error), or to ensure via a protocol that the form to be printed is only acknowledged by the printer once it has actually been printed.
COT Remote Printer Observer – Reliable Document Printing with Printer Monitoring
COT has developed bidirectional custom protocols that enable page-accurate monitoring of the physical printing process and precise recovery after disruptions, as well as detailed feedback on the current printer status. The COT Remote Printer Observer (RPO) is an additional monitoring software that enables centralized status monitoring of printers with an IAS interface.
